Have been stumbling around the hills and valleys of this great place I call home for a little more than 50 years, started prospecting/panning back in 1976, found my first gold on Keithly Creek, just downstream from where Doc Keithley discovered gold back in 1859, and have be hooked ever since.
Started making my own prospecting/hand mining equipment a number of years ago, as I found that what was available on the market was a bit flimsy, well it was nice and shiny, not real effective and easily bend or broken.
So being fairly resourceful I gathered up the tools, metal benders and such needed, and began building equipment that would recover fine Fraser River gold as well as the nugget gold from the Cariboo Gold Rush Country.
I work out of my small shop at home, custom building all the components (by hand), that make up a Greywolf Highbanker, hoppers and sluice boxes are made from 8 gauge aluminum (1/8 thick), the riffles sets are formed individually from 20 gauge steel then welded together, then are given a coat of hi-strength industrial paint.
The equipment I make, is designed by myself, based on my experience with a lot of different trial and error designs, taking the best designs and throwing away the rest, using materials I know work for building equipment to be especially durable, easy to set up and operate, and most importantly, recover fine to nugget gold effectively…..
Smelting and Refining Company and is located out of Richmond, BC, Canada.
Devin Gold Exploration is a proud Canadian company located in Wainwright, Alberta
We first started back in 2008 as a small mining / prospecting company in the historic mining area in the heart of the Cariboo, the Wells/Barkerville gold fields. After years of frustration trying to capture the fine gold that the old-timers left behind, using sluice technology that hasn’t really changed since that era, we thought that there really has to be a better way.
After years of testing different concepts and ideas we finally perfected the Vortex and thus the Devin Gold Vortex Drop Riffle Sluice Systems was born.
The Vortex Drop Riffle concept is very effective at fine gold recovery, effectively hitting rates up to 99% recovery in some independent test done by miners themselves. Although everyone’s gold and cons are different we can obtain a recovery rate of 95% to 98% on average. The high recovery rate is just one of the benefits; others are greatly reduced amount of cons with higher concentration of gold, greatly reduced clean-up times and easier clean-ups.
In 2014 we purchased our own CNC router with a massive 5ft by 11ft table which gave us the ability to machine plates up to 4ft x 8ft and do research and development with greatly reduced cost as opposed to hiring machine shops. This in turn gave us the ability to reduce costs enough that we could offer our systems at a reasonable price.
Then arose the problem of getting other fellow miners to actually see the benefits of our systems. This is when we started to work with some of the miners on the Hit TV show Yukon Gold. With the input and ideas of well-respected and successful miners such as Marty Knutson on how best to incorporate our systems into everyday mining operations we came up with ideas like the Klondike Series clean-up longtom that now is used by many of the miners on Yukon Gold. We enjoy and continue to work with miner from all across Canada; we listen to their ideas and suggestions and continue to try and incorporate them into our systems.
We are very excited that this year we will be attending the Quesnel Gold Show where we will be introducing some new product lines that we developed by working with fellow miners.
Our company is a father son duo Stan and Chris Spletzer. We began experimenting with placer and many different kinds of ore from all over BC several years ago. We set up a processing facility and an assaying lab, purchased many of the latest popular gravity process equipment systems found on the market today. Different vortex, and table styles, also rotary style machines, including ball mills, cyclones, and other similar gravity equipment were used in discovering “best methods” for ore and placer. Jaw and cone crushers, and hammer mills, were purchased and built to accomodate this testing period. As a result of this dedicated time spent in house, a partnership ensued on a newly patented machine, we have added upgraded features that places this machine ahead of the pack. Production and fine finishing happening at the same time with both placer and ore materials. We believe we have built the finest all purpose machine. What we are offering is higher production, higher efficiency, lower consumer cost per ton/yard production.
